@Annaly: Thank you. My kids have no idea that I have launched & am maintaining this blog. They couldn't be less interested at this point. Someday, my hope is that they will discover and learn from it. Mostly, I hope that they will see I did the best I could in all circumstances. Just as my parents did. In the end, we're all flawed, imperfect beings just trying to get through each day, right?

@jo.attalife: The anger dissipated over time. There comes a point when you have to let it go because it has no impact on the other person, whereas holding on to anger can destroy one's own health and happiness.

I hope your kids realize what a gift you're giving them. So few parents write down their thoughts and feelings this way and it would go a long way towards helping kids understand their parents.

I would say for me personally my father's work ethic. Lazy is not in his vocabulary and he is worked constantly to be able to provide for his family. I admire him for that.

wow! just... wow. I feel enriched just by reading this post. I hope this doesn't sound patronizing or anything, (I don't know how else to say it as English is not my mother tongue), but you've told this story in a way that makes the reader grow up: in the way we see an issue in the context of its location and time frame; and from both sides of the coin. And to be able to do it without anger... I'm in awe.
Thank you. I'm blessed.
